Collaboration Over Competition: DPC Doctors Unite in Asheville

In October 2024, Hurricane Helene washed out the original location of RiverRock Clinic. After multiple gatherings spent cleaning mud off furniture and moving into a drier, safer space, Dr. Lok saw firsthand that it was community that made resilience possible. Inspired by that experience, she invited all the Direct Primary Care (DPC) doctors she knew in town to come together—fostering collaboration over competition in a state where nearly 30% of people lack a primary care provider and disasters can strike at any time.

This second quarterly meeting was hosted by Dr. Elsie, founder of One Health DPC in South Asheville. We gathered to socialize, support one another, and troubleshoot how to deliver healthcare in a broken system.

With over 2,400 DPC practices nationwide, this model isn’t just a trend—it’s a movement. One that rejects the broken status quo and re-centers care around the doctor-patient relationship.

In the wake of hurricanes and health system upheaval, connection matters more than ever. We're proud to serve Asheville—not just as individual practices, but as a community of Direct Primary Care physicians who believe in affordable, accessible, and personalized healthcare.
